Our

motion

is

fresh,

inspiring,

and

flexible

Its goal is to evoke the same
satisfying feeling that users get from
using Dropbox products

Motion Principles

It’s easy to go overboard with motion. Focusing on fewer, better elements means that the movement will always have a purpose, and not distract from the main function.

Prioritize Simplicity

Motion can help a user understand a complex action, or ease cognitive load. Hinting at how a function works, or showcasing a longer process in a quick manner, increases usability and aids retention.

Deepen Understanding

Interactions should feel like there is immediate agency when clicked. Motion should have a weight to the movement that echoes physical properties.

Instant Feedback

Our preference is to make the user smile with a wink, rather than throwing confetti in their face.

Subtle Playfulness

Designed to be scalable

Not every experience requires the same amount of expressiveness, however the motion should always pay off our strategic motion principles.
